Providing excellent, personable, and easy to understand
advice for your legal needs.
Before becoming a lawyer I was a
teacher, and I love what I do. I enjoy meeting people and really enjoy
being able to explain the law or a case in such a way that I help my
clients in their time of need. I have been practicing law since 1997, and
I am licensed in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. After working as an
associate attorney, I formed my own successful practice so I could better
follow my own goals as a lawyer and assist my clients in a better way. My
practice has developed into becoming my client’s personal lawyer; whereby,
I assist them in wide ranging legal issues and goals.
It is often very difficult to
answer the question, I am often asked: “What kind of law do you do?”. Most
people expect an answer like, Real Estate Law or Estate Planning or
Corporate Law. What I do does not fit into a neat category of law. It is
wide ranging in legal practice areas, yet focused on being client centered
by meeting my client’s needs. The best way to describe it is to provide
the following example of work I have performed for one of my clients: I
began representing one of my clients by appearing as a Power of Attorney
for the purchase and sale of his home. I then later assisted this same
client by reviewing the purchase and sales agreement for the rental
properties he was purchasing (real estate/ contract law). During that
process we discussed his various business and legal needs, one of which
was to form a Limited Liability Company (LLC) for his rental properties
(business law). Even later still, at his direction I evicted a tenant
living in one of the rental properties (landlord tenant law/ litigation).
During this time, his wife was
involved in a motor vehicle accident, to which they turned to me for help
recovering their out of pocket expenses and proper compensation for her
pain and suffering (personal injury law/ litigation). Even later still,
the client contacted me to see if he needed an estate plan or just have a
“data sheet” with important life insurance information, banking
information, etc….for his wife to follow should he die before her (estate
law/ personal agent). We discussed that he should have an estate plan, and
I recommended an estate planning attorney to him while I drafted his
“emergency information list” that his wife could follow should he die
before her.
As you can see, I am this
client’s personal attorney. As such, I would welcome a call from this
client even if it was not a case I would handle, such as divorce law,
criminal law, or estate planning. In this instance my client would be
referred to an attorney I trust will meet his legal needs, and thus he
will feel confident that his case was guided in the right direction
because of his initial contact with my firm.
